You will need to prove yourself as the “leader of the pack” or the “alpha dog” straight away with your dog. Dogs are pack animals and they closely follow a pecking order within the pack. Also, most dogs will try to take on the dominant role if they can and that can be extremely detrimental to the training of your puppy. So it is important to establish the pack hierarchy with you as the alpha from the very start.
